Matt Kastner Named NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

HADLEY, MA -- Eph senior forward Matt Kastner (Mendham, NJ) was named the NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his impact in the Ephs' 2-1 win over Tufts.

Tufts led Williams 1-0 at the half, but Kastner netted the equalizer at 51:46 when he notched an unassisted goal. It was Kastner's third goal of the season.

Inside of 10 minutes left in the contest, Kastner found himself one on one with the Tufts' goalie. When Kastner touched the ball past the charging goalie to run onto it and shoot into the empty net, he was taken down by the goalie

A red card was issued to the Jumbos' goalie on the play as Kastner was taken down in the box.

Eph junior midfielder Matt Muralles scored on the resulting PK and the Ephs claimed a 2-1 victory.

With the win the Ephs now are tied with Middlebury for second most wins in the conference with 5.

Middlebury is 5-3-1 with one NESCAC contest remaining, while the Ephs are 5-3-0 with two NESCAC games left.

A four-year letterman in soccer, Kastner will close out his final year at Williams lettering in baseball as a four-year infielder.
