WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. -- The Williams College men's soccer team will be embarking on a 12-day European tour through Germany, Switzerland, and Italy in late May.
On May 21st following the completion of final exams, 20 of the Ephs' returning players and the Williams coaching staff will depart for an awesome excursion through one of the most famous and historic regions of Europe.
Highlights of the itinerary include stops in Munich, Germany, Zurich, Switzerland, and several Italian cities such as Como, Florence, Turin, Lucca, and the Republic of San Marino. Included in these stops will be visits to world-renowned cultural and historical destinations such as Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, the Galleria d'Uffizzi and the Duomo in Florence, and Cinque Terre along the Tyrrhanian Sea on the West Coast of Italy.
The Ephs will also play four matches against European teams, receive a training session by an Italian federation coach at Coverciano, the Italian National Training Center in Florence.
Additional soccer-related activities will include stops at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, Juventus' home stadium, and a Serie A match in Milan.
The tour will be operated by Dream Team Sports Tours, a company based in Como, Italy. Williams men's soccer last traveled to Italy with Dream Team in 2013 prior to the program's most recent NCAA Final Four appearance.
"This European tour will be an incredible educational, cultural, and athletic experience," stated Eph head coach Erin Sullivan. "The benefits of traveling and competing together as a team through such an historic and important region of Europe are immeasurable and we're very excited that this opportunity will include our first three recruiting classes here at Williams.
