HADLEY, MASS. -- Williams College senior Anand Butler (Philadelphia Pa.) has been named the NESCAC Men's Squash performer of the Week.
Playing ninth on the Eph ladder Butler collected three wins over the weekend in the Ephs' Simon Squash Center.
Butler defeated Columbia's Matthew Rello in three straight games: 11-5, 11-6, and 11-8.
Versus Will Grady from Drexel University Butler needed to go four games to secure the win, Butler and Grady split the first two games with Butler taking the first game 11-9 and Grady taking the second game by the score of 11-9. Butler re-grouped and owned the next two games to secure a point for Williams winning game three 11-4 and closing out the match with an 11-6 victory in game four.
Butler downed Aryaman Pandya of Tufts in three games for his third win of the weekend. Butler won the first game 11-3, but was pushed in game two (11-9) and game three (11-7).
"I am so happy for Anan," stated Eph head coach Zafi Levy. "Nobody on our team works harder than him. He is constantly work to improve his game and has developed over the years into a legitimate starter for Williams."
The next match for the Ephs will be on January 5 when they travel to play at Middlebury and the following day they will play at Dartmouth with both matches starting at 2 PM.
