Williams Take Down Tufts 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Williams men (9-5) earned another NESCAC win with a 6-3 victory over the Tufts Jumbos (3-4).

Leading off for the Ephs were freshman Udai Pal (#3), junior AJ Solecki (#6), and senior David Pincus (#8). Pal struggled to a 3-0 defeat. Solecki and Pincus took control with 3-0 and 3-1 wins, respectively, to vault the Ephs into a 2-1 lead.

Junior Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#2), and senior co-captains Carl Shuck (#5) and Claude Smith (#7) took to the court next in the hopes of extending the lead. Khosrowshahi and Shuck were able to contribute a pair of tidy three-game wins. Smith fought throughout, but was beaten 3-0.

With the Ephs up 4-2 and in need of one more point, sophomore Jacob Bassil (#1), senior co-captain Will Means (#5), and freshman Charles "Chas" Merrill (#9) came in. Bassil couldn't quite find a rhythm and succumbed to a 3-0 defeat. Nonetheless, Means was on hand to add a decisive point with a 3-0 win to get the Ephs over the line. Merrill also put in a strong performance to cap off the day with a 3-1 win, leaving the final scoreline a 6-3 win for Williams.

Williamstown-native had this to comment after the match: "Great performance against a tough Tufts team tonight. We look to build on this win going into our match of the season against MIT next week."

The Ephs travel to MIT next Saturday for a showdown against the #16 ranked Engineers, before Little Three's at Wesleyan on Sunday.
