Schenectady, NY—The Williams men claimed their second victory in as many days, defeating Union College in a final sore of 185.5 – 76.5. The Ephs begin their season with a 2-0 record, and will now have a competitive break until after Thanksgiving.
The meet kicked off with the 400 medley relay, where the A relay of Paul Leclerc '22 (53.83), Sam Gollob '22 (1:01.67), Zeb Hart '22 (52.74), and Curtis Maher '19 (48.05), combined to take home the early victory. Leclerc also took an individual victory later in the meet, winning the 200 backstroke in a 1:55.62 negative split effort.
The Williams distance group reined in their range slightly, swimming down to the 200 freestyle for a 1-2-3 finish. Jamie Lovette '21 and Andrew Trunsky '20 swam neck and neck through the finish, with Lovette eventually out-touching Trunsky in a time of 1:46.18 to 1:46.47. Jackson Karofsky '21 finished shortly after in 1:48.32. Karofsky swam the 200 IM and the 500 free as well, winning in a times of 2:00.17 and 4:49.70 respectively, with Clayton Morikawa '20 finishing right behind in the 500 and Leclerc taking second in the 200.
After kicking things off well yesterday, first Year Sean Tan returned to the pool for another two victories, winning both the 100 backstroke (54.31) and the 100 fly (52.19).
The Ephs capped off the meet with another relay win in the 200 yard freestyle relay, where the A squad of James Lovette '21 (22.65), Christian Alberga '21 (21.93), Hart (21.84), and Maher (21.64) narrowly out-touched the B team of Will Zhang '22 (21.79), Aaron Stanton '22 (22.03), David Pearcy '21 (22.28), and Jack Melnick '19 (22.02) in times of 1:28.06 to 1:28.12.
