WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Williams College men's swimming & diving team won its 17th NESCAC title in 19 years Feb. 24 at the NESCAC Championship Meet held at Middlebury College.
Along with reclaiming the NESCAC title the Ephs' head coach Steve Kuster was voted the Men's NESCAC Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his career.
The Ephs reclaimed the title from Tufts University by out scoring the Jumbos 1822 to 17775.5 over the four days of competitions. The difference in the meet was the 200 butterfly where the Ephs finished 1-2-3- 4 and 6 to turn a 6.5-point deficit into a 46-point lead. Both Williams and Tufts did not have any divers competing in the championship event and yet they still finished first and second.
All-NESCAC recognition is awarded to individual competitors in swimming and diving who finish in the top three in an individual event or as a member of a relay team.
Williams won one relay and finished third in another. The Ephs won seven individual titles, recorded six second place finishes, and placed third in seven events.
