Williamstown, MA – The Ephs competed against Connecticut College this evening, and after an energized meet the Williams men emerged victorious with a final score of 206-88 and continued their undefeated season with a win streak of seven.
The meet began with the 200 yard medley relay, in which the Ephs swept the top of the podium placing first through third. The winning relay of Zeb Hart (24.02), Liam Sullivan (25.78), David Pearcy (22.52), and Aaron Stanton (20.48) posted an impressive time of 1:32.80. Other swims on the relays included sophomore Nick Whitcomb leading off in a season best backstroke split of 23.90, and sophomore Sam Gollob splitting 26.11 on his breaststroke leg.
Junior Jamie Lovette clenched first for the Williams Men in the 1650 yard freestyle, bringing home the endurance race in a final time of 15:52.97.
Following the mile, Jackson Karofsky swam the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:44.82, taking second, and David Pearcy placed fourth in 1:45.28. The Ephs demonstrated their backstroke depth tonight when they swept the hundred. Versatile stroke specialist Zeb Hart placed first (51.61), while Nick Whitcomb took second (51.74) and freshman Ev Nichol took third (54.43).
Liam Sullivan continued his blazing in-season performance record during the 100 breaststroke. The speedy freshman flew to a first place finish in 57.89, a time that would have landed a top 16 finish at the 2019 NESCAC Championships. Lucca Delcompare clutched the win in the 200 fly (1:52.14), and Paul Leclerc broke from his normal lineup of backstroke to win the 50 freestyle in 21.76.
On the boards, the Williams divers swept the podium, taking first and second in both events. During the 3 meter competition, Kobe Trey finished with 305.78 points and Ben Shapiro improved on his 3 meter list from last weekend, scoring 222.97 points.
Switching gears from the mile, Jamie Lovette took first in the 100 freestyle (47.23). Continuing the Eph's win streak, sophomore Timmy Page posted an in-season best of 1:57.97 to clutch the win in the 200 backstroke.
Distance training partners Andrew Trunsky and Jackson Karofsky faced off in the 500 freestyle tonight, with Trunsky securing first for the Ephs in 4:41.85 and Karofsky finishing moments later in 4:42.08. Another contentious race followed in the next event, when Zeb Hart (51.89) edged out Lucca Delcompare (52.05) in the 100 butterfly.
In the final event of the evening, the Williams relay of Will Zhang (21.89), Zeb Hart (21.16), Jamie Lovette (21.26), and Aaron Stanton (20.69) took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.00.
The Ephs have a busy schedule next weekend, when they face off against MIT and NYU on Friday, and Hamilton and Middlebury College on Saturday.
