Dan MacQuarrie joined the Eph staff in September of 2018 after serving for a year as an assistant at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
At Stevens, he coached the sprint and stroke swimmers, assisted in recruiting, fundraising, the team’s social media, and f the aquatics staff. The Stevens men won the 2018 Empire 8 Conference title, was named the Coaching Staff of the Year in the conference and had multiple men’s and women’s conference champions.
Prior to Stevens, MacQuarrie was the assistant women’s swim coach at Ithaca College where he assisted in all facets of the program. He contributed with on deck coaching of the sprint and stroke training groups, as well as fundraising and recruiting. He created and oversaw the program’s social media presence.
In his two years at Ithaca, the Bombers won back-to-back Empire 8 Championships and were named the Coaching Staff of the Year in both seasons. The Bombers also earned two titles in the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association with multiple individual and relay conference champions. Ithaca finished in the top 20 at the NCAA’s both years with multiple individual, relay and Academic All–America award winners.
After his four-year career at SUNY Cortland, where he was a conference finalist, team champion, and record holder, MacQuarrie worked from 2013 – 2015 at his alma mater with the breaststroke and IM training groups. The Red Dragons won multiple conference champions in those two seasons as well as establishing numerous conference records. In addition, he contributed to the team’s dryland training program and the team’s private lessons fundraiser.
MacQuarrie graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2013 with a B.S. in Coaching.
