Williams College senior tennis player Felix Sun (Potomac, MD) has displayed a fair amount of magic on the tennis courts for the Ephs in now his fourth year on the nationally ranked teams.
Sun has played at or near the top of the Eph ladder in both singles and doubles his entire career in the Purple Valley. In the fall of 2010 he advanced to the singles finals of the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships, having won the New England Region title.
His second place finish in the 2010 national USTA/ITA National Small College Championships earned Sun All-America honors. In addition, Sun has earned Academic All-NESCAC honors twice in his career with a third on the horizon this spring. Sun is majoring in chemistry and he dabbles in songwriting.
Those who have seen Sun play in person are always struck by his composure and calm approach to even the staunchest of tests. His demeanor is expressionless, but his game is relentless.
Last January as part of his Winter Study internship with a dermatologist, Sun studied the effects of one of his hobbies on young patients – magic. The idea of using magic as an icebreaker came to Sun while serving as a counselor at a summer tennis camp.
Sun's abstract on magic and medicine has been published in the Online Journal of Community and Person-Centered Dermatology. You can read Sun's abstract, Magic and Medicine by Felix Sun HERE.
