WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Middlebury College will serve as the host site for the 2017 ITA Division III Men's New England Regional Tennis Championship this Friday through Sunday, Sept. 29- Oct. 1. The tournament will be played on the Proctor Tennis Courts with the Nelson Recreational Center as an indoor facility in the case of inclement weather.
Singles and doubles action begins Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude with the championship rounds on Sunday
In doubles play the Eph tandem of senior Brian Grodecki and then sophomore Alex Taylor have been seeded second behind the Middlebury pairing of Lubomir Cuba and William de Quant. Last spring Middlebury's Cuba/de Quant topped Grodecki/Taylor to win the NCAA doubles title. Along with the tandem of Grodecki/Taylor the Ephs will also have two more teams competing in doubles. First year Arturo Kam and sophomore Ben Lebowitz will be one duo as will first years Austin Barr and Calvin Chung.
In singles play Eph seniors Brian Grodecki and Sachin Raghavan are both seeded ninth. Also competing in singles play this weekend will be Alex Taylor, sophomore Ananth Raghavanvand first years Austin Barr and Calvin Chung.
"I'm really excited to see our guys compete against some of the best players in D3," said Eph head coach Dan Greenberg. "We have a good mix of experience and potential, and this weekend will give us a good sense of where we stand and where we want to go."
A total of 20 New England Division III schools will have singles players and/or doubles tandems competing this weekend.
