ROME, GA – The second day of the 2017 ITA Oracle Cup kicked off today with the singles' semifinals at 9:00 am EST. The champion of the cup earns the chance to face off against top DI players in November.
Brian Grodecki '18 moved into Saturday after a well fought victory against a three seed opponent from the University of Redlands. His semifinal match up today pitted him against a tough two seed, Daniel Levine '19 from Carnegie Mellon. Levine made it to the Oracle Cup after winning the 2017 ITA Southeast Regional Singles Championship. Grodecki conceded the first set 6-3, came back strong with a 6-4 victory in the second set, and was just barely edged out 7-6(1) in the final set. Head Coach Dan Greenberg had this to say about Grodecki's match "He battled back and put himself in a position to win, which was great. Credit to his opponent for playing a great tie breaker. We are looking forward to a 3rd/4th place match tomorrow."
Grodecki will finish out a successful Oracle cup run by playing once more tomorrow at 8:30 am EST. His final match up will be against four seed Jonathon Jemison '19 from Emory University.
