Westfield, MA – On the final day to qualify for the NCAA Championship, the Williams men's track and field team sent Steve Yannacone to the Division III ECAC Championship with the intention of improving his seed time. All individual events take the top 20 across Division III and Yannacone's time was seeded 17th going into the day.
Yannacone delivered in emphatic fashion, putting everything on the line against some of his NESCAC rivals and running the best race of his collegiate career. Unfazed by the high stakes, Yannacone barreled his way to the front and captured 2nd place in a personal best 1:50.53. His time is 0.5 seconds off the school record.
Although the final championship roster is yet to be determined, Yannacone's time currently seeds him at 11th nationally. Potentially joining him in the quest for an NCAA bid are Katakyie Ofori-Atta (100m, 15th), Todd Ford (1500m, 18th), Bijan Mazaheri (5000m & 10000m, 13th & 4th), Nolan Raimo (400m hurdles, 19th), and Tobias Muellers (decathlon, 15th). A full NCAAs preview will be uploaded when the roster is finalized.
