WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Williams College senior captain Mo Frank (Amherst, MA) was selected as a 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-New England member, it was announced Monday.
Frank's teammates Brooke Bovier (Port Orange, Fla.) and Alison Michalik (Naperville, Ill.) were chosen to the NFCA All-New England Second Team. Both Bovier, selected as a pitcher, and Michalik, at shortstop, just completed their sophomore year at Williams.
Williams concluded its season with a 32-9 mark, the third time in
program history an Eph team had surpassed the 30-win mark in a single season. Frank led the Ephs with a .450 batting average, a .510 on-base percentage and walks with 16. She was second with 58 hits and 11 stolen bases and third in slugging percentage at .551, knocking out four triples and five doubles this season.
Previously, Frank was a All-NESCAC First Team selection, as well as a Capital One District I All-Academic Softball First Team member. By virtue of her selection to the District I First Team Frank now becomes eligible for Academic All-America consideration, and by virtue of her First-Team selection by the NFCA she is eligible to be named All-America.
A double major in biology and anthropology, Frank is a three-time All-NESCAC All-Academic selection.
Michalik moved up to the All-NESCAC First Team after being a Second Team selection as a first year. She hit .391 with a .408 OBP and led the Ephs with 35 runs scored. Michalik has a .948 fielding percentage at shortstop. She led the Ephs with 59 hits, had 27 RBI from her lead-off spot in the line-up and stole seven bases.
Bovier had a a strong sophomore campaign, finishing 15-3 with a 1.53 ERA. In 119 innings pitched, she allowed just 87 hits and 42 walks while striking out 86. In 14 starts, she had 10 complete games.
