HADLEY, MA -- Williams College first year Mackenzie Murphy (Diablo, CA) has been selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, April 24th.
It is Murphy's third weekly honor this season. Previously, she had been selected NESCAC Pitcher of the Week twice.
Murphy hit .500 for the week and had a .615 on-base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage. She was 5-for-10 with four extra-base hits, including three home runs and a double. She drove in six runs and scored six runs and also had one stolen base. She was errorless in the field. In a three-game series against Amherst, Murphy homered in each game, and also doubled, finishing 4-for-8 with all six of her RBI and five of her runs scored.
To date, Murphy is batting .409 this season and is tied for the team lead in home runs (4) and RBI (25). Her slugging percentage of .727 leads the team. From the circle, she is 10-3 with a 2.16 ERA, second in the confernce, and 63 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings.
