HADLEY, MA — Williams College senior Brooke Bovier (Port Orange, Fl.) and sophomore shortstop Jessica Kim (Tustin, CA) were selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference's Softball Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively, for games ending Sunday, May 7.
Bovier threw a complete-game, six-hitter against Amherst in Game 4 of the NESCAC Championship, helping the Ephs advance to the championship game. She walked only two batters and struck out three over seven innings of work in an 8-2 victory while improving to 4-0 on the season.
Kim batted .545 in the NESCAC Championship, with all six hits going for extra-bases. She had a 1.364 slugging percentage in the three games, and a .583 on-base percentage, while scoring five runs and knocking in two. In Game 1, her solo home run gave Williams a 2-1 lead against Trinity, and her walk-off triple in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Ephs a 3-2 victory.
Williams (31-10) has won back-to-back NESCAC Championships. The Ephs are hosting an NCAA Div. III Tournament Regional for the fourth consecutive year beginning Friday and running through Sunday.
