HADLEY, MA — Williams College junior Kirstin Mapes has been seected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, March 30.
In a 6-1 week for the Ephs Mapes hit .346 with three home runs, six RBIs, and six runs scored. In a three-game sweep of Hamilton to open conference play, she went 5-for-11 (.455) with three home runs, three RBIs, and four runs scored. In a 4-3 win over the Continentals, she tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, then won the game with a second solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. In the second game of the doubleheader, added an RBI and threw a complete-game five-hitter in a 4-2 victory. She had at least one hit in the final five games of the week and a slugging percentage of .692 for the week while going 1-0 in the circle.
Williams (15-4), ranked No. 16 in the most recent NFCA Top 25 poll, is home Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Skidmore beginning at 4 p.m.
