WILLIAMSTOWN, N.Y. — The No. 2 ranked Williams College softball team (33-5) — No. 3 in New England — will hit the road this weekend after receiving an at-large berth into the NCAA Div. III Tournament.
It's the sixth consecutive year the Ephs have qualified for the NCAA Tournament and the ninth overall.
Williams will travel to Cortland, N.Y., home of the SUNY-Cortland Red Dragons (29-14), champions of the SUNYAC. They will play MASCAC champion Framingham State (24-19) Friday at a time to be announced. Williams will be the top seed in the pod. Host SUNY-Cortland will face St. John Fisher (26-15) on Friday as well. The Cardinals are champions of the Empire 8 conference for the third straight season.
Williams fell to Tufts in the NESCAC Tournament Championship game Sunday, 3-2, snapping a 22-game win streak, a new program record. This is the seventh season of 30 or more wins and fifth straight. The Ephs finished Divisional Play (NESCAC West) 12-0, their first time unbeaten in divisional play since expanding from 8 to 12 games in 2007 (Finished 8-0 in 2001 and 2006). They also captured the 2019 Little 3 title.
