Williamstown,MA -- The Williams Alpine Ski Team has been working tirelessly in preparation for another winter of fierce competition on the EISA carnival circuit. After a grueling fall full of strength and conditioning workouts, the Ephs hit the slopes in Winter Park, CO over Thanksgiving break to kick off their season. After a second on snow training camp in Burke, VT, the Ephs are ready to lay down some fast turns!
The team graduated five members last year and welcomed three ambitious first year women: Nadine Levey, Hannah Trudeau, and Julia Stock. Head coach Kelsey Levine is excited about the energy that these new faces bring to the team.
Returning sophomores include: Anna Bruce, Maddie Dekko, and Will Snyder. Joining them are juniors: Clara Hathorne, Paul Sheils, Will Kannegieser, Ryan Schmidt, and Cole Janco. Leading the team are senior captains Stockton Troyer and Hannah Hunsaker. Hunsaker is returning to competition this season after being sidelined last year by injury. Rounding out the senior class are Bryan Bailey, Chuck Harrison, and Gibson Donnan. When asked about the strong group of returning athletes this year, coach Levine remarked, "I am excited to see the returning athletes help the first years to best understand how to attack carnival season. In addition, I am excited for the experience and thoroughness of this team's training to pay off on race day."
The team has one more important addition to the team this year: assistant coach Jeremy Lawless. Lawless raced and coached at St. Lawrence University before joining Williams Alpine. The team is psyched about the insight and positivity that he brings every single day on and off the hill!
St. Lawrence University is set to host the first EISA carnival of the 2019 season Friday and Saturday (January 11 -12). The Alpine competition will take place at Whiteface Mountain.
