Stowe, VT -- The Alpine Ski Team resumed collegiate racing today after the EISA carnival circuit took a break from competition last weekend. The Ephs took on giant slalom at Stowe Mountain during day one of the UVM carnival. The snow was excellent and the team showed good skiing on a challenging hill with lots of terrain and steep pitches.
On the women's side sophomore Maddie Dekko continued her streak of consistent skiing placing 28th. Senior Gibson Donnan and freshman Hannah Trudeau were 37thand 40th respectively. Head coach Kelsey Levine commented: "Anna Bruce had a great first run, so I am excited to see her find the finish line in the future. Dekko led the squad again, skiing extremely aggressively - a few mistakes cost her a good amount of spots but she keeps knocking on the door!"
Junior Paul Sheils grabbed another top 30 result for the men's team, placing 25th. Cole Janco made an impressive move today, starting bib 82 on the first run this morning and finishing the day in 34th place. Senior Chuck Harrison and junior Ryan Schmidt round out the men's team finishers in 37th and 38thplace. On the men's team results Levine remarked: "It was great to see Janco put down a fast second run and I'm psyched to see Paul solidify his spot in the top thirty. He can cash in on that start position in the coming races."
The Ephs return to Stowe tomorrow to race slalom on day two of the UVM carnival.
