Middlebury, VT -- It was another windy day with variable snow conditions on the EISA circuit for the slalom race at the Middlebury Carnival. The Williams Alpine skiers had great team results with both the men and the women finishing 5th in the 13 team field.
The women had 3 racers in the top 30 with sophomore Maddie Dekko leading the team in 12th place. Senior Hannah Hunsaker skied to 16th and sophomore Anna Bruce skied to 21st. Rounding out the women's squad were senior Gibson Donnan and freshman Julia Stock, placing 36th and 40th respectively.
The men had a great day today with senior Charlie Harrison and junior Will Kannegieser both skiing into the top 20. Harrison finished 15th with an amazing 5th place second run and Kannegieser finished 16th. Junior Paul Sheils, senior Stockton Troyer, and sophomore Will Snyder all showed solid skiing finishing 37th, 38th and 39th respectively. Head coach Kelsey Levine commented, "I'm so excited that Charlie was able to put down a fifth place run to finish 15th today. He has worked hard to return to skiing after his injuries last season and it's very impressive for him to punch it in that high the following season. Will Kannegieser has had many fast weekends in a row and he keeps raising the bar. He has worked hard on his tactics and now his good skiing is able to shine through. To have two men and three women in the top 20 is really exciting. I can see the athletes feeding off each other's results and working together to make that happen. Anna, Maddie and Hannah have all put down top ten runs. And they are working hard to make it consistent."
The Ephs return to the Middlebury Snowbowl tomorrow for giant slalom.
