WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Freshman Isaac Freitas-Eagan and senior Braden Becker have been training hard these past few weeks in preparation for National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. These NCAA races are hosted by University of Vermont and will be held in Stowe, VT. The first race, a 10k skate, will be held on Wednesday, March 6th. The second race, a 20k classic, will be held on Friday, March 8th.
Head coach Jason Lemieux comments, "I'm really excited to see what Braden and Isaac can accomplish at NCAAs. They are strong skiers in both disciplines and are incredibly competitive. I'm confident that when racing in a field as strong as NCAAs they will perform very well. Braden qualified for U23 World Championships this year and then battled a bit of illness for the last two carnival weekends, so he has raced very few collegiate races this season. His health is returning now and I think he is going to be a strong contender for a top finish at NCAAs."
"Braden is a mature racer and this will be his 3rd year in a row competing at this level, added Lemieux. "Isaac has had a fantastic freshman season and is one of only 3 first year EISA skiers to qualify for NCAAs. He has a big motor and his technique is really coming into a place now, where he can utilize more of that engine on the race course. I'm very excited that Isaac is going to have an opportunity to experience racing at this level. I know he's going to perform well this year, but he will also take away some motivation and experience that will be very helpful in the future. It's been a great year for Braden and Isaac so far and I'm confident they're going to represent Williams well with some big performances in Stowe."
With that, send speedy thoughts to Becker and Freitas-Eagan and let the championships begin!
