STOWE, VT – Today is a big day for NCAA championship ski racers all across America. The last day of the season has come and gone! Spectators including loving parents and dedicated friends/classmates lined the course, channeling their energy to the racers.
After the women raced at 10AM in their 15k classic mass start race, the WILLIAMS NORDIC men's team, consisting of senior Braden Becker and freshman Isaac Freitas-Eagan raced their final race. After completing their 20k mass start classic race, Becker came in 18th place with a time of 57:54. Right behind Becker was fellow teammate Freitas-Eagan in 29th place with a time of 59:05. With a winning time of 55:50, Becker and Freitas-Eagan had great times considering it was such a long, time consuming race.
Becker and Freitas-Eagan put up a superb fight on the course, squaring up next to the best college racers in the country. Congratulations to Becker for a beautiful wrap up to his college skiing career. As for Freitas-Eagan, this freshman has a strong three more years to show the college circuit what he's got. Watch out!
A special shout out to the WILLIAMS NORDIC senior team members who did not compete at NCAA Championships. Captain Nick Gardner, senior Evan Carr and senior Sonya Jampel will be remembered for their endless energy and genuine kindness. The team won't be the same without them next year but we wish them well on all their future endeavors!
Lastly, a special shout out to head coach Jason Lemieux and assistant coach Garrett Garberich for their never-ending support and love and time spent on building this team into what it is.
Rock the cow!
