TEAM SCORE

Quarry Hill, ME – The Williams Nordic ski team has entered into the third carnival of the season, hosted by Colby College, feeling stronger than ever. Now that most of the team has recovered from sickness, they are feeling their strength in numbers.

The men started the day off with an individual start 10k skate race. Once all of the men had crossed the finish line, sophomore Isaac Freitas-Eagan lead them with a strong 10th place. Freitas-Eagan was only a mere 30 seconds out of top 5. Seconds count! Closely following was teammate freshman Jacob Jampel who crossed the line in 22nd place. The third scoring man on the Williams Nordic team was junior Henry Mcgrew who finished in 27th who was followed by senior captain Jack Consenstein in 29th. That makes 4 men in the top 30!

The men ended the day in 6th overall as a men's Nordic team.

After the men finished their race, the women headed out on their 5k individual start skate race. Once the race was over, the top Eph woman finisher was freshman Lilly Bates in 29th place. Bates was only about one minute out of placing in the top 3. This just shows how every second counts on a short 5k race course. Closely behind Bates, was teammate senior captain Ingrid Thyr who ended her race in 34th place. Only 2 seconds behind Thyr was freshman Hadassah Lurbur in 36th place.

The Eph women ended their day in 9th place overall as a women's Nordic team. This is not the best showing from the women but they look forward to sophomore Jenae Rassmusen re-joining them once she recovered from a sickness that has taken her out for the whole season thus far.

The Williams Nordic ski team ended their first day of the Colby Carnival in 7th place overall. They look forward to tomorrow where they will compete in a 10k/15k classic mass start race.
