LAKE PLACID, NY – The Williams Nordic team hosted its annual relay race today and their results were almost as impressive as the clear blue skies and perfect corduroy snow. As the temperatures rose from yesterday's sub-zero weather, the team warmed up for the one race of the season that really makes the athletes feel as though they are competing in a team sport.

The races today for both men and women were a 3-person by 5k skate race on a 2-lap 2.5k course.

The men raced first. The first Williams Nordic men's team was comprised of junior Henry Mcgrew, senior captain Jack Consenstein and sophomore Isaac Freitas-Eagan. This team ended their day in 6th place. The second men's team was made up of freshman Jacob Jampel, sophomore Woody Martineau and senior captain Dylan Syben. This team ended up placing 12th. These results are very impressive, given they were out of 26 teams.

The Williams Nordic men's team ended their day in 5th place overall.

Once the men finished their race and were cooling down by strategically placing themselves throughout the course to cheer on the ladies, the Eph women started their race. The first Williams Nordic women's team was comprised of senior captain Ingird Thyr, freshman Hadassah Lurbur and freshman Lilly Bates. This speedy team ended their day in 9th place out of 29 relay teams. The second team was made up of senior Carmen Bango, sophomore Siri Bohacek and sophomore Jenae Rassmusen. This team ended up placing 18th

The Williams Nordic women's team ended their day in 7th place overall.

The Williams Nordic team will enjoy a weekend off from racing this coming week while they fine tune their racing bodies for the upcoming final weekend of racing. EISA Regionals will be hosted by Middlebury over February 28-29. The team will compete in a 5k/10k skate individual start race and a 15k/20k classic mass start race.

As the season comes to a close, the Williams Nordic team looks forward to Regionals where they plan to leave everything out on the course. Rock the Cow!
