Williams places 2 boats in Grand Final for 4th straight year

Lake Natoma, Sacramento, CA --In this afternoon's Grand Qualifier, the Ephs 2V challenged a field of first varsity boats to secure fourth place and a spot in tomorrow's Grand Final.

A seat down off the start to Trinity's 1V, Williams spent the first 500 bow ball on bow ball with the Bantams in a fierce fight for fourth. With persistence and power, the Williams 2V walked to 4 seats up on Trinity with 1000m to go.

An epic sprint at the 300 brought the Ephs across the line 0.2 second behind third place William Smith and one boat length ahead of fifth place Trinity.

Williams is the only team that will have both of its boats in the Grand Final, which gives the Ephs an edge because the NCAA title goes to the team that has the highest combined points between its 1V and 2V.

Last year in the Grand Final the Eph 1V finished first and the 2V placed an impressive third.

The Williams 1V and 2V reach the final day of their quest for a sixth consecutive national title tomorrow in the 11:20 Grand Final on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, CA.

As of Thursday the Williams women's crew team and the Eph women's tennis team were tied at six for most NCAA titles won by one sport at Williams. Brad Hemmerly's Eph women rowers have put themselves in position to extend their streak of NCAA titles and become the first team at Williams with seven NCAA championships.
