HOUSTON, TX – The Williams College women's golf team started day three of the NCAA Tournament five shots back of Rhodes College and they ended the third round 11 shots back of first place George Fox University and seven shots behind Rhodes College and are in third place.
The Ephs shot a 308 on the day, while George Fox constructed a blazing 297, and Rhodes shot a 306. After three rounds George Fox has a team score of 903, Rhodes is at 907, and the Ephs are in third with a score of 914.
Kim, double bogeyed the sixth hole and then came right back to eagle the par five seventh hole.
The back nine was not kind to the Ephs as their four scoring numbers totaled 15 over par. Liz Gudas was two over on the back nine and finished the day with a team best 75. Cori Chan had a three over 39 to finish with a 76. Tracey Kim went three over on the back to shoot 78 on the day. Kim rolled in a long putt on 18 from the fringe to notch her 78.
George Fox took over first place by tallying the low score of the day and the tournament thus far -- 297.
The Ephs will tee off tomorrow morning at 9:30 with George Fox and Rhodes in the fourth and final round of the tournament.
Williams is looking to secure its sixth straight top five finish at the NCAAs, but they are also not conceding first or second place to either George Fox or Rhodes with one round remaining.
