Ephs Sweep Oswego State 4-1

Oswego, NY-- The Williams College Ephs (15-4-3, 8-4-2 NESCAC) played the Oswego State Lakers (9-10-3) this afternoon at Oswego. After taking the lead in the second period, the Ephs were able to score two more goals to pick up a decisive victory 4-1.

The Ephs scored their first goal at 10:36 into the game when Avery Dunn collected the puck in the neutral zone after a turnover, passing it to Michaela O'Connor for a 2 v 1 with Amanda Reisman. O'Connor made a beautiful cross-ice pass to Reisman, who then deked the goalie blocker side and buried the puck.

Williams was given a power play opportunity right before the end of the period when Lakers Aislinn McAleer was called for tripping at 18:27 but were not able to capitalize on the opportunity.

At 4:01 into the second period, Oswego State's Bailey Thomas was awarded a penalty for interference, giving the Ephs another power play opportunity. Williams' Brynn Puppe received a penalty soon after when she was called for interference at 4:36. However, neither team was able to score during these power plays.

Williams sophomore Georgia Keogh was given a hooking penalty at 7:46 into the second. Although the Ephs were able to successfully kill off this penalty, Oswego State was able to score right after the end of the power play at 9:49.

Williams picked up their second goal of the game when senior Abby Brustad, assisted by Claire Mancheski and Annie Rush, scored cutting through the slot and putting the puck bar down at 17:07.

Williams was given another power play opportunity at 18:24 when Oswego State's Avery Webster was given a penalty for checking. The Ephs were not able to score during this power play nor during the one after a penalty to Oswego State's Skylar Byrne at 7:59 into the third period for cross-checking.

The Ephs were able to find the net however at 15:15 into the third when senior Anna Fucillo, assisted by Bri Laycock and Georgia Keogh, scored with a nice tip top shelf in front of the net for her second goal in as many days.

Williams extended this lead even further a minute later when Amanda Reisman, assisted again by Michaela O'Connor and Avery Dunn, knocked in her second goal of the game at 16:53.

By the end of the night, Heiting had saved 10 of 11 Oswego shots while Laker's Shokar saved 32 of 36 Williams shots.

"The team held tough and came out strong in the third to extend the lead and get us the win", said head coach Meghan Gillis, "I think we learned a lot about what we need to do to continue to get better".

The Ephs play their next game friday at Middlebury.
