WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams College Ephs (11-6-4, 8-4-2 NESCAC) faced the Wesleyan Cardinals (6-13-1, 0-11-1 NESCAC) this afternoon at Lansing Chapman Rink. Williams was able to come out strong in the first period and maintain and extend this lead to win the game.
The Ephs scored their first goal of the game at 8:40 into the first when senior Amanda Reisman scored after a 2 on 1 opportunity. Later this same period, the Ephs were able to extend their lead at 15:16 during the power play when first year Kelly McCarthy was able to score with a rebound off the crease from fellow first year Maddie Tix.
The Ephs compounded on this lead at 3:44 into the third, when Reisman, assisted by Tix, scored her second goal of the game. Wesleyan was able to score a single goal at 4:14 into the third. For the remainder of the game, neither team was able to find the net and the score remained at 4-1.
By the end of the game, Chloe Heiting for Williams had saved 17 of 18 Wesleyan shots while Wesleyan's Allegra Grant had saved 40 of 44 Williams shots.
"That was a huge four points that we needed to get," said Eph head coach Meghan Gillis, "I thought we played better today than yesterday which is important heading into next weekend"
Next weekend the ephswill close out NESCAC Play when they playat Middlebury at 7:00PM on Friday and then host Middlebury on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
