Ephs Fall to Panthers 4-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams College Ephs ((11-7-4, 8-5-2 NESCAC) faced the Middlebury Panthers (16-2-3, 11-1-1 NESCAC) this afternoon at Lansing Chapman Rink. The Ephs fell behind in the second period and were unable to come back, ending the game with a 4-0 loss to the Panthers.

The first period was uneventful, with no penalties or goals for either team. It was not until the second period, when Williams was called for an interference penalty, that Middlebury scored the first goal of the game at 7:21 into the second period on their power play. Despite a power play opportunity a few minutes later, the Ephs were unable to score during this period.

Then at 5:04 into the third period, Panthers were able to score again right after killing off a penalty. A few minutes later, Williams was called for slashing and the Panthers were able to capitalize on the one man advantage and score at 7:15 into the period.

At 19:15 right before the end of the game, the Panthers were able to pull ahead even more with another goal right before the end of the game.

"I think the team came out really hard in the first and had lots of good chances we just weren't able to capitalize," said head coach Meghan Gillis, "Middlebury did a great job on their special teams and hopefully we can learn from that and win that special teams battle tomorrow"

The Ephs play Middlebury again tomorrow afternoon.
