WILIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Meghan Gillis's Williams College Ice Hockey Team has been seeded fifth in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament slated to begin Feb. 29 with four quarterfinal round games.
The Ephs finished with an 8-6-2 record in NESCAC play and they were 12-8-4 over all this winter.
The Ephs will be on the road in the quarterfinals as they will head west to Clinton, N.Y. to tangle with the Hamilton Continentals at 1:00 PM. In their last five contests the Ephs have won three games and lost two.
Hamilton posted a 9-6-1 NESCAC record to finish fourth in the NESCAC regular season standings and on the year the Continentals were 15-8-1. The Continentals are 4-0-1 in their last five contests heading into the NESCAC tourney.
In the two NECAC contests between Williams and Hamilton the Ephs won both games back on November 22 and 23. On November 22nd the Ephs never trailed in winning 5-1, building an early 2-0 lead and then answering the Hamilton goal with three third period goals.
On November 23 the Ephs also never trailed, but after the Ephs opened the scoring and Hamilton answered back, Williams added two unanswered second period goals to prevail 3-1.
Sophomore goalie Chloe Heiting has played in 18 games and she has allowed 27 goals for a goals against average of 1.49, and she has turned aside 436 of the 463 shots she has faced for a save percentage of .942.
Hamilton's Michaela Giuttari, Missy Segall and Nancy Loh are tied for the team lead in goals scored with nine. Giuttari leads in points with 24 as she has registered a team-high 15 assists.
Sidney Molnar has played 14 games in goal for the Continentals and she has a 1.45 goals against average, allowing just 19 goals. Her save percentage is .928, having stopped 245 of 264 shots.
