CLINTON, NY – Hamilton College (8-3/4-3 NESCAC) defeated Williams College (4-7/2-5 NESCAC) tonight on a chilly evening in upstate New York.
The Continentals jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the beginning of the first half and never looked back. With the win, Hamilton moves into sixth place in the NESCAC standings.
At 16:15, senior Natalie Gill put the Ephs on the board when a successful draw control led to an offensive push. Classmate Anne Rehfuss found Gill driving to the goal making the score 6-1 in favor of the Continentals.
Hamilton answered back with two more goals before Rehfuss found junior Jenna Chodos for her second assist of the game. The Ephs entered halftime down 8-2.
The second half began just as the first half had, with six consecutive Hamilton goals including two from sophomore Jackie Cuddy who led all players with three goals. At 3:57 Rehfuss again helped the Ephs get on the board when she scored on a free position attempt.
The Ephs fought until the end and were able to put one more on the board when first year Eliza Quigley fed Gill at 2:32 making the score 14-4, however, it did not prove to be enough for Williams.
Hamilton's Cuddy led all players with three goals. Kara Pooley, Margaret Gabriel, Darby Philbrick, and Morgan Fletcher all had two goals for the Continentals. First year Hannah Burrall started in the goal for Hamilton, making two saves in the first 30 minutes of play.
