ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Three players scored three goals each Wednesday night as the Williams College women's lacrosse team rolled to its third straight win via a 19-5 decision over Farmingdale State at Ann Dever Park.
The win evens the Ephs record at 3-3 on the season. They return home Saturday for a 12 p.m. game against NESCAC rival Bates.
"Our draw control unit was stellar tonight and gave us so many of our scoring opportunities," Ephs' head coach Alice Lee said of the win.
Williams collected 20 draw controls to the Rams five. First years Claire Fitzpatrick and Sophia Millay led the way with six and five respectively. Fitzpatrick added three goals and an assist to her her night. Caroline Hogan and Suzanne Penikis also scored three goals and one assist in the victory.
The Ephs outshot FSC 34-7 in the game and 24-5 in the first half as they burst out to a 9-0 lead. The Ephs scored seven goals in a 6:18 span of the first half and five of the six goals came on free position attempts. Saudek got the scoring started at the 27-minute mark when she converted the first of those free position attempts.
Only 17 seconds later, Tenbarge converted a pass from Hogan to make it 2-0. Gomez, Halloran, Millay and Fitzpatrick then scored four consecutive free position shots for that 6-0 lead. Fitzpatrick scored her first goal off a nice feed from Penikis before Penikis notched an unassisted goal that made it 8-0 Ephs with 10:23 left in the half.
Up 12-3 at the half, the Ephs scored the first six goals of the second stanza to take an 18-3 lead.
Williams had an 11-5 advantage in groundballs, with Isabel Perry leading the way with three to go along with her three draw controls.
