WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Four members of first year head coach Alice Lee's Williams College women's lacrosse team have received recognition form the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Senior defender Kat Fearey (Duxbury, MA) and first year attack Claire Fitzpatrick (Longmeadow, MA) were named to the All-Berkshire Region first team, while junior attack/midfielder Emma Tenbarge (Peapack, N.J.) and sophomore attack Kara Wollmers (Houston, TX) were named to the Second Team.
"We focus on playing a team-oriented game and we are thrilled to see numerous athletes and our program being recognized on the All-Region teams," Lee said. "It's an incredible honor and it speaks to the commitment and effort of every single person on our team."
Kat Fearey is one of the most athletic defenders I've ever coached," stated Lee. "Her defensive instincts are spot on and she reads the play two steps before it happens. Kat was at the core of our defensive efforts and helped anchor our defense throughout the year."
"Claire Fitzpatrick is a natural competitor and just a workhorse on the field," noted Lee. "Her speed makes her incredibly hard to stop, coupled with her vision for setting up her teammates. Claire brings a fun level of intensity to the team and I'm excited to see her grow throughout the years."
"Kara Wollmers has a knack for finding the back of the net," commented Lee. "She is hard to defend in the interior because of her impeccable timing with her cuts. Kara brings a great deal of levity to practices and games though she is laser-focused on the task at hand."
"Emma Tenbarge has been an offensive power throughout the year but has also worked to develop her defensive game," said Lee. "Her endurance allows her to sustain consistent pressure on defense while still pushing the pace up the field."
