GET TO KNOW JANE LADAGA:

Why did you choose Williams College?
I wanted to attend a liberal arts school somewhere on the East Coast and experience the four seasons. I chose Williams because of the people, mainly the tennis coaches and team. The people I met during the recruitment process were really cool and welcoming. I felt like everyone was genuinely interested in me, and we had a goofy time. They also raved about how the professors and the Williamstown community in general were friendly and supportive. I can attest to this after being here for almost four years, and I am really glad I chose Williams.

What do you like about Williams women's tennis?
I really like how close we are. The dynamics on our team are great, and I enjoy spending time with them whether it is on or off court. I love the meals together, the goofy moments in the van and the academic support we give each other.

What is your pre-match routine?
I usually journal before the match. Journal my intentions for the match, write out some nerves and give myself some motivation for the match. If I am still nervous and need more motivation, I will listen to music. Calming music if I am too fired up and hype music if I need more motivation and fire.

If you could have one of your teammates' tennis strokes (forehand, backhand, etc.), whose would you take and why?
Ellie's forehand. I would love to have a killer forehand and hit tons of down-the-line winners on people.

Favorite class taken at Williams?
English 138 with Professor Rhie, titled "What is a Self?" We talked about the self in the context of literature, philosophy and psychology.

What other things do you do on campus?
I am on the board committee of a dance club called ADT (Asian Dance Troupe), where we put on small and fun events throughout the year and a performance at the end of the semester. We do a lot of K-pop covers, Chinese traditional and desi medley dances in our performances. Finally, I work at the Research Services desk at Sawyer Library, helping students with their research needs.

If you could play another sport at Williams, what would it be and why?
It would be volleyball. I just love playing volleyball and have fun memories playing it with friends. It is also more of a team sport than tennis, so working together to win would be fun and exciting. Even though I do not have the height for it, I feel like I could be a good libero if anything.

Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years?
Out of all of us, I do not know what job Ayanna would get into because she does a lot of different things at Williams, and she is not afraid of being involved or trying new things. I can see her going into consulting, starting a business or even becoming an entrepreneur and doing her own thing. She is a wildcard to me.

What is a food you could eat every day and never tire of?
Salmon. I enjoy salmon whether it is cooked or raw.

Favorite place you have visited or traveled to?
I have two. The first is Japan and second is Key West, Florida.

If you could sit down for lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be?
Hwasa. She is a South Korean singer-songwriter, and I would love to meet her.
