Biography

Ryan is the son of John and Bonnie Malo…He is a Political Science major.  He comes from Georgetown, MA and wrestled at St. John’s Prep where he was a 2X state Champion, a New England Champion, a senior National All-American, and an Academic All-American finishing his senior season 58-0.  He wrestles and coaches at the Doughboy Wrestling Club.

Career at Williams:  Ryan made an instant impact on the Williams wrestling team going 39-2 as a Sophomore.  Ryan led the country and all Divisions in Pins with 24 (also a Williams season record).  He won every regular season tournament including championships at The Doug Parker invitational, Ursinus Fall Brawl, and Simpson Invitational.  During the season he pinned the #8 wrestler Nic Barclay of Luther in 2:29.  In the Finals of the Simpson Invitational he beat 2X All-American Rob Kramer of Coe 5-4.  During the season he also beat All-American Joe Silverman of MIT three times.  Ryan went on to win the NEWA Championship at 197 earning an automatic bid to the NCAA championships.  Ryan was seeded 4th and went on to earn All-American honors with a 2nd place finish and is the second national finalist in school history (Tom Prairie ’05, 2nd at 2005 NCAA Championships at 125).  In the NCAA Semi-finals Ryan pinned 4th place finisher Andy Moore of UW-Lacrosse in 2:13.  Ryan enjoys running, lifting, and coaching.  He would like to coach wrestling after Williams while continuing to compete nationally and internationally.
