DANBURY, CT – Three members of Michelyne Pinard's Williams women's soccer team that finished second in the nation with a 21-2-1 record and compiled a 17-game in-season unbeaten streak (16 wins/one tie) have been awarded All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)-New England honors this fall.
Junior Midfielder Mai Mitsuyama (Natick, MA) was named to the ECAC-New England First Team, while the sophomore forwards Kristi Kirshe (Franklin, MA) and Audrey Thomas (Bellevue, WA) were accorded Second Team honors.
Mitsuyama, an offensive catalyst for the Eph team in the midfield notched six assists on the year and established a host of scoring opportunities for the Ephs linking the Eph backline with its potent front line.
Previously this fall Mitsuyama was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, First Team All-NESCAC, and to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Scholar All-America Team.
Kirshe and Thomas, who are roommates, teamed up to give the Ephs a dynamic attack up front that saw each of them break the Ephs' single season goal scoring record (15).
Kirshe ended the year with 18 goals and five assists for 41 points, while Thomas netted 17 goals and also assisted on five for 39 points.
Kirshe drilled seven game-winning goals, while Thomas netted eight, including the lone goal in the Ephs' NCAA semifinal victory versus Johns Hopkins University, 1-0. Thomas was named the Offensive MVP at the NCAA Final Four.
Previously this fall, Kirshe and Thomas were both named First Team All-NESCAC, while Kirshe earned NSCAA All-Region First Team Honors and Thomas earned Second Team NSCAA All-Region Honors.
Kirshe was also named to the NSCAA All-America Second Team.
