WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The Williams College women's soccer will be making its 18th appearance in the Div. III NCAA Tournament — and 10th consecutive — this weekend when the Ephs play host to Elms College, Arcadia University and the Wentworth Institute of Technology.
"We love playing on Cole, but at this point in the season, we are just happy to be playing,' Ephs' head coach Michelyne Pinard said. "Only 64 teams in the country are able to say that and we don't take that for granted, we're thrilled to be playing, we're thrilled to be on Cole Field and we're looking to do whatever we can do to earn another day together."
Williams (15-0-2), the defending Div. III national champions, will face-off against New England Collegiate Conference champion Elms (18-3-1) Saturday in a first-round match-up at 11 a.m.
The second first-round game to be played in Williamstown will pit Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Wentworth (15-3-3) and Arcadia (17-3-0), the runners-up ofthe Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth. They wil play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Elms defeated Lesley, 4-2, in the NECC Tournament title game to earn the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. Wentworth defeated Gordon, 4-0, in its tournament's championship game, while Arcadia fell to Messiah, 2-0, in the title bout of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
Saturday's winners will meet at Sunday at 1 p.m. to see who advances to the third round the following weekend.
Tickets prices are $6 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students and $2 for childre ages 2 to 12.
