Olivia Barnhill Named to Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd”

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Williams College junior goalie Olivia Barnhill (New York, N.Y.) is the 45th Eph athlete or coach to appear in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" since August of 1989.

Olivia Barnhill is the second Eph women's soccer player to appear in "Faces in the Crowd," joining goalie Lauren Sinnenberg '10 who appeared in February of 2008.

Barnhill recorded a stellar season for the NCAA DIII Champion Eph team. In six NCAA Tournament games Barnhill posted six clean sheets and was named the Outstanding Defensive Player in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. 

Barnhill appears on page 22 of the December 18, 2017 issue of Sports Illustrated.

In 22 games this season Barnhill fashioned a record of 21-0-1. In 1,883 minutes in goal turned aside 57 of 64 shots she faced and compiled a .891 save percentage and her goals against average was 0.33.

This season she notched 12 shutouts and in her career Barnhill has recorded 21 shutouts. Barnhill has appeared in 45 games in her three years at Williams, starting in 44 of those games. Her career record now stands at 40-1-3

Of the Ephs who have appeared in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of Sports Illustrated magazine since August of 1989 seven are coaches and 38 are athletes.

Head men's & women's swimming coach Steve Kuster and ultra-marathoner Nikki Kimball '93 (skier/w x-c) appeared in consecutive issues in 2012.

Women's swimming & diving has had the most honorees to date: four swimmers, one diver, and two coaches.
