Ephs to face No. 7 TCNJ today in NCAA 3rd Round Game

GENEVA, N.Y. — The No. 5 Williams College women's soccer team will face No. 7 The College of New Jersey a third round game of the 2018 NCAA Div. III Tournament today at 11 a.m.

The Ephs come into today's game at 17-1-2 while the Lions are 15-1-1. The game will be played at Boswell Field at Urick Stadium, the home of Hobart College football. 

Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for students, senior citizens and military personnel and $2 for children ages 3-12. Fans unable to make it to Boswell Field can follow the action online with Live Stats and Live Video.

Today's other game will feature Amherst (15-2-2) against sectional host William Smith (16-3-0). That game will be played at 1:30 p.m. Today's winners will meet Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Ephs — who won a second national championship in three years in 2017 — advanced to today's game by first defeating The University of New England 2-0 in the first round on goals from Brianna Binder and Liz Webber. On Sunday, Williams defeated Stevens by scoring twice in the game's final 17 minutes. Georgia Lord tied the game off a Sarah Kelly assist and Sydney Jones netted the game winner off a helper from Liz Girvan. Senior goalkeeper Olivia Barnhill made six saves in the victory. 

TCNJ advanced to the Sweet Sixteen by way of a 4-0 win over Western Connecticut State in the first round, and a 1-0 victory over Farmingdale State in the second round. Jen McGrogan, Randi Smith, Lauren McLaughlin, and Julianna Bertolino each scored against Western Connecticut. Smith added the lone goal off of a McGrogan assist against Farmingdale State.
 
The Lions rank fourth among all NCAA Division III teams in goals against average and have allowed only five goals all season. Additionally, the Lions have surrendered only one goal over their last nine games. The Ephs have scored 34 goals and allowed only 10 in their 20 games to date.
