HADLEY, MA – Williams College sophomore Julia Ward (Wilmington, Delaware) has been named the NESCAC Women's Squash Performer of the Week for leading the Ephs to a 3-1 record on the opening weekend of the season.
Ward's lone loss on the opening weekend at the top of the Eph ladder came in the Cornell match. She rebounded with three straight wins. Ward defeated the number one players from Connecticut College, Hamilton, and Williams Smith decisively. In the Connecticut College match she won 11-2, 11-3 and 11-6. Hamilton's top player fell 11-2, 11-6 and 11-2 and Ward disposed of the top player from William Smith 11-1, 11-3 and 11-4.
"Julia, has developed into a top player over the last two seasons," stated Eph head coach Zafi Levy. "She constantly works on her game and continues to develop and improve. As our number one player, Julia will have some serious challenges this season but I am confident she is ready to face these challenges and win at the top spot."
