New Haven, CT – The Williams Women's Squash Team took down George Washington University 5-4 to end the season 13th in the country. Today's match was the last for our three incredible seniors: Melissa Swann, Eliza Bower, and Anna Nicholson

First up was Sarah Willwerth (#3), co-captain Swann (#4), and Mira Kamat (#9). Willwerth found herself locked in a five-set battle against the GW #3. After dropping the first game, she won the next two, but was unable to continue the momentum and eventually fell 10-12 in the fifth. Co-Captain Swann wanted to end the season on a strong note as she dispatched her opponent in three straight games. Following her captain's lead, Kamat also won her match 3-0.

On court in the second wave were Julia Ward (#1), Abby LeBlanc (#6), and Anna Nicholson (#7). Ward struggled against the GW #1 and lost 3-0 after putting up a fight. LeBlanc had two incredibly close games losing 11-9 in both of them, but her GW opponent was able to close out the match in three. On a bottom court, co-captain Nicholson also ended her career on a high note as she took care of business as she beat her opponent in three straight games and earned the third point for Williams.

Last on court today was Haley Jefferson (#2), Quan Ng (#4), and Kathryn Wright (#8). Ng and Wright were too good for their opponents today as they won their matches in straight games and secured the final two points for Williams. Jefferson won the first game 13-11 against the GW #2, dropped the next two, but she had to unfortunately retire due an ongoing injury.

For now, the women's squash team will be resting in the spring and work hard to come back strong in the fall!
