HADLEY, MA — Williams College juniors Casey Delano (Milton, Mass.) and Jamie Lovette (Ithaca, N.Y.) have been selected as the NESCAC Female and Male Performers of the Week for action ending Sunday, Jan. 26.
Delano started off the weekend with a split of 52.6, anchoring the Williams B 400 medley relay against MIT and NYU. She swam a season-best time of 1:53.25 in the 200 freestyle and finished second. She was also second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.96 and won the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:05.06. Against Middlebury and Hamilton, she won the 50 freestyle (24.9) and was part of the 200 freestyle relay (24.19 split).
Lovette swam a variety of events for the Ephs last week. On Friday against MIT and NYU, he won the 200 freestyle (1:40.85) and was second in the 100 freestyle touching the wall in a time of 46.17. He followed up with a win in the 500 freestyle, going 4:36.29 with a last 50 swim of 25.88 to pull ahead and win a tight race. He added a split of 20.66 in a near upset of MIT's 200 freestyle relay. On Saturday against Middlebury and Hamilton, he broke a pool record at Hamilton with a time of 9:38.36 in the 1000 freestyle and won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.65.
