BOCA RATON-- The Williams Women's Tennis team lost for the first time this spring Tuesday at the hands of Lynn University, 6-3. Lynn is currently ranked #3 in DII.

Williams won one of the three doubles matches on the day. The number two pair of Kathleen Elkins and Kristin Alotta turned in a strong performance to take their pro-set 8-5.

Elkins picked up her second point of the night later during singles play, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Senior Caroline Capute was the only other Eph to win her singles match. Capute won her first set but dropped the second. She would recover to take the third 7-5.

Kara Shoemaker was able to scrape out her first set, 6-4, but would eventually fall in three sets. Nancy Worley won her first set 6-3 but was in for the same fate.

"We played solid tennis today, and this isn't a disappointing loss at all. I'm a firm believer that matches like this can help us identify how to take our games to the next level," commented head coach Alison Swain.

Williams will play their last match before returning home on Thursday at Nova South Eastern.
