WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The second of the two NESCAC semifinals saw the hosts and second-seeded Ephs of Williams College take on the third seeded Jumbos of Tufts University.

The match would determine which team would advance to play top seeded Middlebury in tomorrow afternoon's NESCAC Final. Middlebury has punched its ticket to the finals with a 5-2 win over Bowdoin.

With Williams and Tufts facing each other only the week before, the Jumbos had hopes that they could overturn their 7-2 loss on that occasion. However, the Ephs had other ideas, as they comfortably overcame the Jumbos for the second straight week, 5-0, to book their spot in their 13th straight NESCAC Championship final, in a rematch of last year's Championship dual against Middlebury.

Williams and Middlebury will meet tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. on the Ephs' Torrence M. Hunt Tournament Courts.

The Ephs came out of the gates on fire in doubles, with Julia Cancio and Emily Zheng claiming the first point of the dual on Court 3 with an 8-1 win against Alexa Meltzer and Conner Calabro.

Setting the tone for the Ephs' doubles performance, Hannah Atkinson and Chloe Henderson followed suit shortly thereafter, notching a narrow 8-6 victory over Otilia Popa and Tomo Iwasaki after leading 4-0 early.

Juli Raventos and Linda Shin completed the Ephs' sweep of doubles, as they finished off Mina Karamercan and Lauren Louks, 8-3, to give the Ephs some breathing room heading into the singles portion.

The Ephs' Leah Bush playing at #2 singles was the first off the court downing Lauren Louks 6-0, 6-0 to earn the Ephs' fourth point of the match.

Providing the fifth and final point for Williams was Hannah Atkinson when she defeated Katherine Wiley in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

"I thought we competed really well today," said Eph head coach Alison Swain. "Our team is thrilled to be in post-season play and that showed in our energy and focus on court. We are excited to be back in the finals and I know everyone is feeling good about their preparation."
