CLAREMONT, CA -- After two days of team competition senior captains Juli Raventos and Julia Cancio were back in action in the NCAA Singles Tournament (Raventos) and the NCAA Doubles Tournament (Raventos/Cancio).
In her first two matches in the 32-field singles tournament Raventos emerged victorious and has advanced to the quarterfinals. Rventos' first victim was Clementina Davila from Sewanee, 6-4, 6-1 and then she downed NESCAC foe Mina Karamercan from Tufts 6-3, 6-4. Next up for Raventos is a match vs. Caroline Casper from Pomona-Pitzer College on Friday morning with a berth in the semifinals at stake.
In doubles play the Eph duo downed the Carnegie Mellon doubles team of Courtney Ollis and Cori Siddell 6-0, 6-1.
On Friday Raventos/Cancio will square off against the University of Chicago doubles tandem of Claire Handa/Marjorie Alohi in the hopes of advancing to the semifinal round.
