WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Williams finished hosting the 2018 ITA Tournament Sunday, with a total of 64 players competing from 19 schools around the northeast.
In doubles, Williams claimed two of the spots in the round of four, with the teams of Leah Bush '19 / Chloe Henderson '20 (seeded 2nd) and Korina Neveux '19 / Maxine Ng '22 (seeded 5th) representing the Ephs. Bush and Henderson fell to Jackie Bukzin and Claire Evans of Amherst. Neveux and Ng were defeated by Kristina Yu and Victoria Yu of Wesleyan, who were seeded 1st in the tournament. The team of Yu and Yu from Wesleyan went on to win the overall doubles.
The tournament singles winner, Jackie Bukzin of Amherst College, beat out Wesleyan's Venia Yeung to claim first place in the tournament. She will be awarded an All-American title and advance to the 2018 Oracle Cup.
"Amherst and Wesleyan played focused and disciplined," said head coach Anik Cepeda. "It was disappointing to lose without giving them a serious fight, because we play great doubles. It'll be a team effort to get prepped for our match versus Amherst next weekend."
The Ephs will face off against perennial rival Amherst on their turf, taking place on October 6th. They will also play at the Middlebury Invite on October 12-14.
