MIDDLEBURY, VT - Williams continued into day two of the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday, playing both Middlebury and Brandeis.
The Ephs started with doubles against Brandeis. Chloe Henderson '20 and Julia Cancio '18 played an exhibition match against Keren Khromchencko and Michele Lejat, winning 8-5. Lauren and Olivia Leavitt of Brandeis defeated Maxine Ng '22 and Emily Zheng '20 8-5.
Turning to singles, Williams went 1-2 against Brandeis and 1-2 against Middlebury. Henderson defeated Olivia Leavitt of Brandeis 6-4 6-4. Emily Zheng '20 and Ng were defeated by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 2-6, 10-3 respectively, by Brandeis' Khromchenko and Lauren Bertsch.
Finishing out the day, the Ephs faced off against Middlebury in singles. Zheng defeated Emily Bian in an lengthy 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) match. Henderson was defeated by Christina Puccinelli 6-3, 6-3. Ng also fell to Middlebury, losing to Emma Gorman 4-6, 6-4, 11-9. This is the third event at which Williams has faced off against Middlebury this fall season.
On Friday, only one official match was played: AnnMartin Skelly and Puccinelli of Middlebury defeated Henderson and Ng in doubles 8-5.
Play will continue Sunday morning at 9:00 am. The Invite is women's tennis last event for the fall season.
