WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Sophomore high jumper and multi-events competitor Emma Egan (Yarmouth, Maine) has been named the USTFCCA New England Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Egan is the outdoor NCAA DIII high jump defending champion, having won the event a year ago when she cleared the bar at 1.76 meters (5 ft. 9.25 in.). That event was the first time that Egan had ever tried a 10-step approach in the high jump.
This spring Egan leads NCAA Division III in the high jump with a mark of 1.73m (5-8). She claimed the DIII New England Championship title in the event while also finishing second at the NESCAC Championships.
Williams head women's track & field coach Nate Hoey joined the Williams College Athletic Department in June of 2013.
The USTFCCCA named Hoey the 2018 New England Indoor Track Coach of the Year and the 2018 New England Outdoor Track Coach of the Year.
Hoey has won the NESCAC Track Championship all five years and has also won five straight Little Three championships. His 2018 Eph indoor track team finished second at the NCAA Championship and his 2018 Eph outdoor team is ranked second heading into the NCAA Championships this weekend in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
