Clinton, NY-- Facing off in a late Friday night match against conference foe Hamilton, Volleyball was able to gut out a tight 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) victory over the host Continentals. With the win Williams moves to 11-5 on the year (5-1 in NESCAC) while Hamilton drops to 7-10 (1-4 in NESCAC).
While Williams struggled at times offensively, they were able to hold off Hamilton through the strength of their block (10 total blocks) while also playing committed team defense in the back court. Sophomore libero Emily O'Day would lead the team with 13 total digs, while senior defensive specialist Lauren Agoubi would chip in an additional 10. Overall the Ephs would out dig their opponents by 13 (55-42) while registering six more total team blocks.
Offensively a bright spot for the team was the play of first year middle hitter Katherine Lane, who lead the team in hitting percentage, hitting .571 (5 kills, 1 error, 7 attempts).
Williams will now look to rest up over an extended weekend as they prepare to host New York regional foe SUNY New Paltz in Chandler gymnasium on Wednesday October 10.
