WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Williams College junior opposite Emily Doll (Villa Park, CA) has been named to the 2012 All-NESCAC Volleyball Second Team.
Doll, a co-captain for the Ephs (15-12/NESCAC 7-3), switched from her usual middle blocker position to that of opposite this fall. "We asked Emily to switch positions from middle blocker to opposite this season and the way she embraced that challenge was awesome," noted Eph head coach Christi Kelsey. "Through her hard work, she became a confident, consistent all-around go-to player for us. In addition, Emily along with fellow co-captain, Haley Eagon, really helped shape our team in their leadership roles this season."
Doll played 27 matches and in 98 sets this fall for the Ephs. She led the Ephs in kills with 235, an average of 2.40 per set. On the year Doll notched 59 blocks, of which 11 were solos, placing her second on the team. With 169 digs Doll was third on the Eph team and she was also third on the Eph squad with 98 set assists.
"Being named All-NESCAC is a well-deserved honor for Emily and for our team," stated Kelsey. "I'm really proud of Emily in how she elevated her game this year to a new level. We had a lot of different players step up for us throughout the year, which speaks to our depth as a team. These types of awards are awesome not only for the individual player receiving the honor, but it recognizes our team as well as a whole."
